ABOUT US
Greetings! Welcome to Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church. We are a Methodist denomination, however, our members come from a variety of backgrounds to simply share the love for Christ and each other. Our motto is, "small in number, but large in love". Our services are a combination of traditional and contemporary; we sing hymns that have been favorites for generations, however, we mix some contemporary music in as well in order to provide an uplifting praise and worship experience for people of all ages and walks of life. No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, you will find an opportunity to grow and share God's will for you. If you are looking to visit our church, we look forward to receiving you and we wish you all of God's blessings.

OUR BELIEFS
United Methodists are followers of Christ, who share the following theology in common with all other Christians:
We believe in the Trinity: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
We believe in one God, the creator of the universe and all that's in it.
We believe God created humans in His image, for a purpose, and that He desires to have a relationship with us.
We believe humans can choose to accept or reject a relationship with God.
We believe Jesus is the Son of God, fully human and fully Divine.
We believe that the risen Christ is our Savior and that we are called to pattern our lives after His.
We believe that the Holy Spirit awakens us to God's will for our life and empowers us to live obediently.
We believe the bible is God's Word and the primary authority for our faith and practice.
Along with many other Protestants, we also recognize the two sacraments in which Christ himself participated: Baptism and Communion. We practice "open Communion." In other words, you don't have to be of Methodist denomination to participate; we welcome all who love God, repent of their sin, and seek to live at peace with one another.
In addition to these basic Christian beliefs, our Denomination is also distinguished by a "Wesleyan" emphasis on God's grace and on doing good works.
John Wesley, an Anglican priest and the founder of the Methodist movement, understood God's grace to be a free gift. Wesley believed that even though we are all imperfect and fall short of God's perfect glory, He gives us His mercy and forgiveness. This is not because we deserve it, but simply because He loves us and wants to bless us. All we have to do is accept it!
United Methodists believe that good works and faith go hand-in-hand. We offer our lives to God by willingly serving Him and our fellow man, not out of a sense of fear or obligation, or in an effort to "earn" God's love, but rather to return our love and appreciation for the amazing gift of life and love God has given us.
